My real BFF
Happy birthday to my momma, who has and will always be my one and only "best friend forever." She's taught me (although it took some extra smacks in the head - and a therapist to prove she was right) how to be an independent woman who can really love herself (and not just SAY she does) and not give a poop about what others think of her. Here's to the woman who made me the awesome person I am today (tooting my own horn, thankyouverymuch!)... Love you Momma Llama.

Go away!!!
This rogue warrior is my only gray hair (that I know of) that keeps creeping it's way back into my head. I yank it out every time. I curse at it every time. And then I smile and breathe calmly again when I realize that it's in the same place each time and that no more have sprouted. A shout out to my mom for giving me the genes of little-to-no grays.

Happy birthday (again)!
My Cheek's birthday was back in March, but the birthday party she wanted was on hold until April, because Belle was booked until then. How cute is it that birthday parties went from renting a (creepy) clown to come in and make some animal shaped balloons... to renting Belle, setting up a princess table and make-up/hair station, playing dress-up, listening to her tell stories and sing, and getting a rad cake. And by "cute," I mean "super expensive." But wow... Cheeks was in heaven.

Surprise me
For reals, "Let's go grab some food and drinks because this day sucks," hilariously wrapped up an otherwise horrible day yesterday (at least for my friend). Our bartender made us a grand selection of awesome drinks. Some of which we got charged for, a lot we didn't. The nachos are the only food item on the receipt, in case you're wondering. Thanks bartender, we needed that night.

A teeny pitter patter
It's been a very long time since I've kinda been into someone. I'm still unsure of where this one is going, but I'm content with where we are at the moment. This one made me smile...

If the glove don't fit, you must acquit!
You probably want to know what half of these titles refer to. Some of them are just inside jokes for people who I know will read this (and yet not comment directly on this blog, ahem...) or something that I think is hilarious. This one actually does pertain to today's post, though (most do pertain to that particular day).
As a teacher at the same site and grade level for the last 9 years, I am in danger of losing my job. I received a letter in March stating that the district may not need my services next year. But this is not what I'm focusing on, because this blog is about awesomeness. The possible layoff is, however, the background to today's awesomeness.
So basically, today I had to sit through about 3-4 hours of a court trial where, in a nut shell, my union and my district sat in front of a judge to hash out whether or not the district is taking the correct legal measures for possibly laying off about 85 people in my district. I promptly spent the first hour or so stressing out over my job. I've done a pretty decent job of avoiding any negative emotion toward this entire dilemma over the last month. Whether that is the right or wrong way to deal, it was my way of keeping the negativity out of my life and not focusing on or stressing out over something that is ultimately out of my control. But today it seeped in a bit. So instead of spiraling into a downward state of stress and depression, I read through two and a half of my National Geographic Traveler magazines that I just recently subscribed to, while simultaneously adding items onto my bucket list.
It was definitely a "Calgon, take me away" moment. Especially when I read this and smiled.

Check out my new pixels
Maybe you haven't noticed. Maybe you're new. And, I mean... I don't mean to brag or anything, but HOW RAD DOES MY NEWLY DESIGNED PAGE LOOK?????!!!!!! Long story short, a friend of a friend hooked me up with her mad art skills and rocked out this new design with little-to-no input from me (because I honestly had no idea what I wanted). Thanks to Christa, who apparently went to the school I currently teach at, for rocking out this new design (and so quickly!). I'm super excited to visit me now!
(And because I try and post a picture a day, here's a picture of the awesomeness of this newly designed blog.)
